Bronx River Cleanup

On May 6th, Greenburgh Nature Center Naturalist Sara Spoden led a team of volunteers, in conjunction with Riverkeeper, in a shoreline cleanup of the land by the Bronx River Trailway. This marked the 6th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep.
We had 11 wonderful volunteers come out to help us and we collected 13 bags of trash and 4 bags of recycling that are no longer on or in our watershed!
Throughout the day, our volunteers got to enjoy walking the beautiful trail, and came across some wildlife that included: a Great Egret, a female Canada Goose on her nest flipping her eggs, and two huge snapping turtles!
All in all it was an impactful day, as we had a ton of positive feedback from everyone, including passersby who had admiration for our contributions in cleaning up this community space.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who made the day so great!
