Volunteers are at the core of Greenburgh Nature Center’s community. They have helped us to ignite passion, curiosity and respect for the natural world since our doors first opened over forty years ago. We thank them for their vision and dedication, and we thank you for your interest in joining their ranks.
Today we offer volunteer opportunities for dedicated adults, high school and college students, school and outside clubs, and community groups to assist with a wide range of activities throughout the year. These include: animal husbandry; trail tours and maintenance; gardening and greenhouse care; recycling and composting; assistance at weekend and community events; administrative support; special projects; and more.
Working with Greenburgh Nature Center staff, students will acquire valuable pre-professional training in the aforementioned fields.
Volunteer with Greenburgh Nature Center and expand your knowledge of animals, plants and sustainable best practices. Identify the ways in which you’d like to lend a helping hand from this list of opportunities. Once we have received your application, we will let you know if your skills and availability match our current needs and if so, we will arrange an interview. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING OUR MANOR HOUSE CLOSURE (OCT 2 – END OF NOVEMBER), WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY NEW VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS. PLEASE CHECK BACK AT THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER.
Internships and externships for school credit are available. Please write a proposal stating your interest in working with Greenburgh Nature Center for school credit. Include what you hope to contribute and what you would like to learn from your experience. If you would like assistance designing your proposal please contact Casey and Sara at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once we have received your proposal, we will contact you for an interview if your skills and availability match our current needs.
Please contact our Volunteer Coordinators, Casey Keefe and Sara Spoden at email@example.com with interest in ongoing group volunteerism.
