Meet the Greenburgh Nature Center Staff
Vicki Seiden Sherman, Director of Marketing
Vicki joined the GNC in late 2009. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts and Design from Cornell University. Before joining the GNC, she was President of VSS Consulting, a local advertising and promotion agency. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice President, Director of Account Services for a large promotion agency handling national clients. Her experience also includes positions at advertising agencies in New York City.
Penny Berman, Managing Director
Penny has worked at the GNC since 2003. She has a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from Boston University. Before joining the GNC she worked in the field of environmental education at Westchester County Parks Department's Division of Conservation. Prior to that, she worked in educational publishing and marketing research.
Sara Cashen, Assistant Managing Director
Sara has worked at the GNC since 2005. She has a Bachelor's Degree in English from Georgetown University and a Master's Degree in international and public affairs from Columbia University. Prior to joining the GNC she worked for the New York Botanical Garden and the Westchester County Parks Department's Division of Conservation. She also has experience in corporate communications.
Dean Fausel, Senior Naturalist and Facilities Manager
Dean has worked at the GNC since 1980. He has a Bachelor's Degree in environmental science from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
John Mancuso, Director of Education and Graphics
John has worked at the GNC since 1987. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in wildlife management and botany from SUNY College of Forestry, and a Bachelor's Degree in science from Syracuse University. He enjoys birding, metal detecting, and geocaching.
Travis Brady, Curator of Living Collections
Travis has worked at the GNC since 2006. He has a Bachelor's Degree in animal science from North Carolina State University and is working towards a Master’s Degree in psychology and animal behavior from Hunter College. Prior to joining the GNC he worked at the Wildlife Conservation Society/Bronx Zoo in the mammal department and at the Kangaroo Conservation Center in Georgia. He is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and nuisance wildlife control officer.
Brittany Burgio, Living Collections Assistant
Brittany joined the nature center in 2009. She received her Bachelors in Outdoor Recreation, Leadership and Management from Northern Michigan University. Prior to coming here she worked for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation/Americorps Program doing Environmental Education on the Hudson River. She also worked for a nonprofit nature center in Michigan, serving as Program Director of Environmental Education.
Anne Jaffe Holmes, Special Projects Coordinator
Anne joined the GNC in 2007. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Stanford University, where she got her start in environmental organizing by leading the effort to create the university’s first recycling program. Prior to joining the GNC, Anne was Teacher-Director at Yorktown Community Nursery School. She received training in environmental education as a participant in Westchester County's Volunteer-in-the-Parks environmental educator's program.
Jocelyn Lim, Data Manager/Bookkeeper
Jocelyn joined the GNC in 2001. She has an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies with a major in Computer Systems Management Application from the College of Westchester and a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems from Monroe College. Before joining the GNC, she worked as a computer consultant, specializing in database management.
Greg Wechgelaer, Naturalist Educator
Greg joined the nature center in 2010. Prior to becoming a full-time staff member, he served as a GNC intern to fulfill his college requirements. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science from SUNY Oneonta.
Juliana Leshi, Receptionist and Office Assistant
Juliana joined the GNC in 2006. She has a Bachelor's Degree in communications from New York University.
