Bill Lawyer was a dedicated community member, spending his days educating the public about the wonders of the natural world in our backyards. From 1978 to 2008 Bill Lawyer was the heart and soul of the Greenburgh Nature Center. In the early years, the success of the Center was built on his ideas, energy, and inspiration.

“Now, thirty years later, we can see the fruits of your efforts: an excellent small animal museum, an explosion of visitors, a successful outreach program, appealing in-house programming, a growing membership, financial stability, the creation of a greenhouse and Birds of Prey exhibit, and a reputation for the Nature Center as an outstanding center-piece of the Greenburgh Parks and Recreation Department”

Joan Giampoli, 2008
Former President, Board of Directors

“Through your good work, you are leaving an invaluable legacy of countless people that you have inspired to care abut wildlife and habitat, and to take action to protect our environment. Your leadership and dedication have changed lives and improved the environment for the future.”
